The power of an Idea.

I had an interesting insight while reading other people's blog today.
It involved alot of having some level of esteem, projected confidence
visualisation of goals. Well the proponent statement suggest that
high levels of these can translate and have a large
correlation to the end-goal. Its strange how, i am somewhat unconviced.
Perhaps, lets go into my head and think about it. Ironically, i am a product
of such motivation preachers, power of the mind, mental capabilities..?
ive been through camps after camps, many brilliant motivators, books, articles
and yet i still have not figured it all out yet.
It would seems, objectively, that this, mental power do have real world effects.
By imagining youself as something beyond normal , or visualising success, evidently
your mind is of great influence. A scientist once did an experiment, on patients.
Both were suffering from pains, one was a control group and the other given some soda water.
Apparently those who thought their pain was some what lesser, had managed the pain better.
From this, one can objectively conclude that perhaps your mind has power over yourself.
I view is as a state of mind in sports, you know the tired fatigued body, the discourgaing giving-up feelings, and yet the power of self motivation can pull you through. IMagine this, taken to the extremes, would have obviously great potential in many aspects.
However, having said that, blind faith, as i would put it , would be foolish. Reality Strikes, and it strikes hard. In markets, people who refused to be emotionless, who somehow trust their gut instints, who believe in their decisions furiously, get burnt over and over again. In Gambling, the Gambler's Fallcy; shows people having false illusions of probability through illusion of control and cluttering illusions. Imagine people believing that how hard you hit the dice can decide what number it rolls on.
Bring it futhur, perhaps what your mental powers can do is limited to yourself and not your external enviroment, after all we still cannot fly even though the years of mankind's fantasy and obsession with flying. No i dun mean with the aeroplane.
So much has since i entered polytechnic, friends come and go , relations get strained. Before i even knew, the decisions i made earlier on, has borned fruits right before me. I do acknowledge the powers of the mind; placebo effect if you will. But wisedom is in using your intelligence for a purpose, and as such im well aware of the limitations of such things. =)
Just Food For Thought.
Till i Get back Again!
